Thailand is a tourist hotspot, but sadly, some tourists exploit its citizens via the sex industry rather than enjoy its rich culture and stunning sights.

Both adults and children are victims of sex trafficking in massage parlors, brothels, bars, hotels and karaoke lounges throughout the country.

Sometimes private residences outside urban areas are used to abuse victims in an attempt to avoid the attention of authorities, rather than carrying out the crime in the country’s notorious red-light districts.

Children are especially vulnerable to exploitation. Often they’re lured by traffickers into commercial sex through dating and chat apps and social media platforms, then coerced to perform sex acts through videos and photos on the internet. Victims may also be blackmailed with the threat of exposing their explicit images.
